Jakarta-based National Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM) held Integrated Cross-Sector Advocacy to increase commitment in implementing the National Food Safety Priority Program which will be implemented in an integrated manner in West Jakarta.

The event was opened by West Jakarta Administration and Welfare Assistant and attended by related regional units such as Health Sub-agency, PPKUKM Sub-agency, Education Sub-agency, KPKP Sub-agency, Religion Ministry, Perumda Pasar Jaya, Urban Village and Sub-district Heads, PKK Cadre and Karang Taruna in West Jakarta Administration area.

Through this advocacy activity, it is hoped that the mandate of Food Law Number 18 of 2012, namely that the Government and Regional Governments guarantee that the implementation of food safety in each food chain in an integrated manner can be achieved.
"This is also in line with the acceleration of stunting reduction, considering that by consuming safe food, nutritional needs will also be met," she said, Wednesday (3/20).
The Integrated Food Safety Program in West Jakarta Administration in 2024 will be carried out in eight sub-districts, 78 schools/madrasahs and two traditional markets. The urban villages are Kapuk, Pegadungan, Duri Kepa, Srengseng, Jembatan Besi, Krukut, Jatipulo and Jelambar. The markets are Tomang Barat and Ganefo.
West Jakarta Administration and Welfare Assistant, Amin Haji, stated synergy between the central government, regional government, business actors and the community is needed in implementing food safety.
"Through this advocacy activity, it is hoped that a good commitment can be formed towards the importance of food safety in order to protect the public from food that poses a health risk," he stated.
